Two roof situations in one valley.

Upper Hutt sits at the top of the valley, and it holds two kinds of roof. In the town, suburbs like Trentham, Silverstream, Totara Park and Heretaunga run to suburban tile and long-run steel on standard sections. Out toward Te Marua and the Akatarawa, the sections open up into semi-rural and lifestyle blocks.

Those bigger, more exposed rural roofs and their sheds and outbuildings ask different questions of us than a tidy town roof does. Whichever one you have, we take a careful look at what's visible and accessible and give you a clear written summary of what we found.

What we keep an eye on in Upper Hutt

The housing stock

Large modern roofs. Newer subdivisions mean big long-run metal roofs, where ridge, flashing and fixing detail matters.

Semi-rural and lifestyle blocks. Larger or multi-building roofs, including sheds and garages, where a drone covers ground quickly and safely.

The conditions

Frost and temperature swings. The upper valley runs colder, and repeated frost and thaw is hard on older coatings and seals.

Tree cover and gutters. Established sections and bush-edge homes collect a lot of leaf litter that backs up guttering.

Same close look, town roof or lifestyle block.

A tile roof in Silverstream and a sprawling steel roof on a block near Te Marua are different jobs, but the scope we work to is the same: we look closely and tell you what's there.

What you're getting

Whether we're on a Trentham town roof or a big block roof up the valley, the scope holds. This is a roofing-focused assessment of the visible and accessible roof areas on the day. It is not a full building report and not an engineering report: a visual, non-invasive inspection, so we don't lift coverings, open ceilings, or carry out moisture testing.

We record what we can see and we're straight about what we can't. We don't hand you a guaranteed leak diagnosis, because pinning a source down takes further investigation. What you get is a written letter that records what we saw, with practical comments and your options.

What people up the valley ask us.

Do you cover semi-rural and lifestyle blocks?
Yes. Larger sections and multiple buildings are well suited to a drone-assisted look. Tell us what's on the property and we'll talk it through.
Is this a building report?
No. It's a roofing-focused assessment of the visible and accessible roof areas, not a full building report and not an engineering report. Need a full building or engineering report instead? We'll point you to who does them.
